Handcrafted on the serene farms of Kinnaur, this humble yet nutritious staple is more than just a food—it’s a story of care, culture and connection. Native people have been consuming sattu since ancient times and it has been source of their energy for farm work.

Straight from Our Fields 🌾

Cultivated using sustainable and time-honored practices, the barley used for our sattu comes directly from the terraced farms of local communities. These lands, enriched with minerals and nourished by glacial waters, produce barley with exceptional flavor and nutritional value.

Traditionally Processing Method for Maximum Nutrition 💚

We follow the age-old method of slow-roasting barley in small batches over a wood fire, a technique lovingly passed down through generations. This process enhances the nutty aroma and earthy flavor while locking in essential nutrients like fiber, minerals, vitamins and protein. This makes sattu not just delicious but also highly nutritious.

After roasting, the barley is ground using the traditional stone grinding method in a water-powered flour mill, ensuring the purity and authenticity of the final product - Barley Sattu.

How to Consume 🥄

Local style: In Kinnaur, we often mix it with salted butter tea (namkeen chai), warm milk, lassi, and curd and enjoy it. We also make sattu chapa by mixing sattu with apricot kernel oil, namkeen chai, and sugar.

Baby food: It is soft, easy to digest, and perfect for babies and young kids transitioning to solid foods.

Storage Instructions ❄️
