Our Story

We are two sisters who hail from Shiaso, a small village with around thirty families. Nestled in the mountains of the Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh, our village is remote, it takes around eight hours from the nearest city, Shimla.

Surrounded by orchards, livestock, and the harsh yet beautiful Himalayan winters, we were raised by a close-knit family and a resilient community. Our childhood was steeped in nature, hard work, and a deep connection to the land—values that stayed with us even as life took us far from home for education and work. With the support of our family, we each followed different paths, yet both were deeply shaped by our roots.

Saroj completed her schooling in Himachal Pradesh and earned a degree in Business Management from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She later secured admission to IIM Bangalore, one of India’s most prestigious management institutes. After her MBA, she spent nearly a decade in the corporate world, working in digital marketing and sales roles with companies such as Jivox, Publicis Groupe and others. Despite a fulfilling corporate career, Saroj felt a strong pull to return to her roots. Having witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by local farmers—including our hardworking mother—she knew she wanted to make a meaningful difference to her community.

Vijay took a different but equally purposeful path. She began her journey by joining a Buddhist Nunnery to study Buddhism. She later completed her schooling and undergraduate studies at The Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Varanasi, followed by a Master’s degree from Savitribai Phule Pune University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan.

United by a shared vision, we founded Sutlej Tribe in the latter part of 2024. Through Sutlej Tribe, we are working to empower local farmers—helping them access larger markets, secure fair prices, and reduce their dependence on single-crop farming. We advocate for sustainable agriculture by promoting multi-crop and organic practices while preserving the unique ecological and cultural heritage of our region.

Our mission is to bring you fresh, high-quality produce, directly from the mountains to your kitchen—recreating the joy of picking fruit straight from the orchard. We strive to be a trusted source for farm-fresh products while creating lasting value for the communities we belong to.
